Committee meetings 

Council operates five Standing Committees:

Committee meetings are held monthly. Planning and Economic Committee and Community Services Committee meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month (unless otherwise advertised).  Governance Committee, Infrastructure Committee, and Water and Waste Committee meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month (unless otherwise advertised).

Note: The Planning and Economic Committee was established on 13 March 2013.  Minutes and agendas for the former Planning and Sustainability Committee and Economic Development Committee can be found in the Archive.  Several new Committee names were adopted on 30 May 2012. Archived records for the re-named Committees are located under the new names (eg, the former Finance & Administration Committee documents are filed under Governance Committee).

Ordinary meetings 

Ordinary meetings are held on the last Wednesday of each month (unless an alternative date has been advertised) and are chaired by the Mayor. 

Deputations

Cairns Regional Council invites submissions from groups or individuals wishing to make a formal deputation to Council. Deputations will be held on 26 June 2013 and requests forms are required to be lodged by midday Thursday 20 June 2013.  The Deputation Request form (PDF format) can be downloaded from Related Documents at right.

Special meetings

A Special Meeting will be held at 10am on Tuesday 25 June 2013 to adopt the 2013-14 Budget. 

The meeting will be held in the Council Chambers, on Level 3 of the Spence Street Administration Building. All members of the public and media are invited to attend.

Special meetings may be held at different times.  In accordance with the requirements of the Local Government Act, two days written notice must be given to all Councillors of the date, time and object of the meeting.  All Councillors are required to attend special meetings.

Meetings open to public

Meetings are open to the public unless a closed session is declared.  Agenda outlines are made available to the public at the time of release of the agendas to Councillors. This information is accessible online or from Council's Customer Service Centres.

A number of Advisory Committees operate to provide advice and recommendations to Council.
