Council meetings, agendas & minutes

Ordinary meetings 

Ordinary meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month (unless an alternative date has been advertised) and are chaired by the Mayor. 

Committee meetings 

Council operates five Standing Committees:

Committee meetings are held monthly. The Planning and Economic Committee meeting is held on the second Wednesday of each month (unless otherwise advertised). The Water and Waste, Infrastructure, Governance and Community Services Committee meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month (unless otherwise advertised).

Meetings open to public

Meetings are open to the public unless a Closed session is declared. 

The Table of Contents for all Council and Committee meetings will be published on Council's website on the Friday afternoon before the next meeting. All reports to be considered at the meeting shall be published in full on Monday afternoon prior to the meeting. Reports listed to be considered in the Closed session of the meeting are not released to the public.

Deputations

Council invites submissions from groups or individuals wishing to make a formal deputation to Council.  Deputations will be held on Wednesday 27 August 2014 and request forms must be lodged by midday Thursday 21 August 2014.  Download the Deputation Request Form ( PDF, 0.2 MB )

Special meetings

Special meetings may be held at different times. In accordance with the requirements of the Local Government Act, two days written notice must be given to all Councillors of the date, time and object of the meeting.  All Councillors are required to attend special meetings.

The archive contains agendas and minutes for Cairns Regional Council's Ordinary, Committee and Special meetings. 

Note: The Planning and Economic Committee was established on 13 March 2013.  Minutes and agendas for the former Planning and Sustainability Committee and Economic Development Committee can be found in the Archive. 

Advisory Committees

A number of Advisory Committees operate to provide advice and recommendations to Council.
