James Cook University: Translating science into action

James Cook University (JCU) is globally recognised for its expertise in marine science, tropical ecosystems, and sustainability research. With extensive knowledge across both land and sea, JCU leads projects focused on restoring coastal landscapes, wetlands, and marine habitats. The university is also invested in regional research infrastructure to support the Blue Economy. By translating scientific insights into practical solutions, JCU contributes to addressing climate change, biodiversity loss, and strengthening community resilience.

Through facilities like the JCU Ideas Lab, world-class field research stations, and strategic partnerships, the university supports entrepreneurs and small businesses from concept to commercialisation. This includes access to specialist labs, grant assistance, and R&D support to help turn ideas into real-world solutions.
