  1. Why is Manunda Library relocating?

    The Manunda Library is relocating due to the evolving needs and opportunities at the Raintrees Shopping Centre. The Raintrees Shopping Centre has identified a range of exciting prospects that require the current space occupied by the Manunda Library. As a result, the Manunda Library is being relocated to accommodate these new developments.

  2. How long will the Manunda Library be closed for?

    The Manunda Library will be closed starting from 5:30pm, Friday 7 June for approximately 2 weeks to allow the staff time to relocate materials and furnishings to the new location.

  3. How can I contact Cairns Libraries during the relocation?

    The Manunda Library will be temporarily unavailable for contact starting from 5:30pm on Friday, June 7th, until early July. However, you can reach out to any of our other Library branches, where our staff will be more than happy to assist you. For branch location and hours, please visit the Cairns Libraries website.

  4. Where is the new location of the library?

    The Manunda Library will remain located within the Raintree's Shopping Centre. Its new spot will be on the first floor, accessible via the entrance on Koch Street (near Woolworths).

  5. Will there be any disruptions to library services during the relocation?

    Yes, the Manunda library will experience a temporary closure from 5:30pm on Friday, 7 June and will remain closed for approximately 2 weeks. Throughout this temporary closure period, online catalogue functions such as placing holds and renewing items will be unavailable.

  6. Will the book drop be available at Raintrees Shopping Centre while the Manunda Library is closed?

    No.  You can return any borrowed items to any of our other Library branches or conveniently drop them off at DFO Shopping Centre Westcourt while the Manunda Library is temporarily closed. For branch location and hours, please visit the Cairns Libraries website.

  7. Will library materials and resources be available during the relocation?

    Throughout this temporary closure period, online catalogue functions such as placing holds and renewing items will be unavailable.   8. How can I return borrowed books during the relocation?

  9. Can I request an item while the Manunda Library is temporarily closed?

    Throughout this temporary closure period, online catalogue functions such as placing holds and renewing items will be unavailable.

  10. What happens to a hold I’ve already placed?  Can I still pick it up at Manunda Library?

    Members who placed holds between 3 – 6 June will be able to collect them from the Earlville Library.

  11. What happens to regularly scheduled programming while Manunda Library is closed?

  13. Will library hours change at the new location?

    No, the Manunda Library hours will remain the same.

  14. Will there be any changes to library staff or services offered at the new location?

    The staff at the new location will remain unchanged.  However, the newly designated library space does not have the capacity to accommodate a meeting room.
