RESEARCH

The database is continually updated and useful for students, scholars, teachers and anyone interested in Australian literature.

Click the 'Log in with your library card' button on the main menu, then from the login page select your library (Cairns Libraries) and insert your library card number and password.

Trove is an online service created by the National Library of Australia offering free public access to a wide range of information, including historical and contemporary materials. Trove contains digital reproductions of newspapers, journals, books, maps, personal papers, as well as archived websites and other born-digital content. It also brings together records and digitised content from libraries, museums, galleries, universities, archives, data repositories and other research and collecting organisations around Australia.

Ancestry Library Edition provides access to record collections from Canada, Europe, Australia and other areas of the world!  This collection, with thousands of databases and billions of indexed names. Access is free from public PCs at any Cairns Libraries Branch.

Register a birth, apply for a certificate, change your name or search your family history. The registration of births, deaths and marriages, changes of name, changes of sex, adoptions and provision of certificates is the responsibility of the state and territory governments in Australia.

Research your family history with links to local resources, events, services and projects with Cairns Family History Centre.

YOUTH

KIDS

ScratchJr (5-7 yrs)

ScratchJr is designed for young children aged 5-7. ScratchJr is an introductory programming language that enables young children to create their own interactive stories and games and, in the process, learn to solve problems, design projects, and express themselves creatively on the computer.

Scratch (8-16 yrs)

Scratch is designed especially for ages 8 to 16 but is used by people of all ages. Scratch is a visual programming language that that allows young people to create digital stories, games and animations, and skills learned can be applied to other programming languages such as Python and Java.
