City Library Temporary Car Park Closure

Why is the City Library carpark closed?

The City Library carpark will be temporarily closed while solar panel removal works are undertaken. The works are necessary to support building maintenance and improvements.

When will the carpark be closed?

The carpark will be closed from Monday 12 October to Friday 16 October 2026.

Will the library still be open?

Yes. The City Library will remain open and all library services, programs and facilities will continue to operate as normal during the works.

Where can I park during the closure?

Visitors are encouraged to use nearby public parking and allow a little extra travel time when visiting the library.

Can I still return my library items?

Yes. Library items can be returned inside the library during operating hours and via the returns chute located at the front of the library. Alternatively, items can be returned to any of our other 7 branches.

Is the drive-through returns chute available?

No. The drive-through returns chute will be unavailable from 12 to 16 October while works are being completed.

Will library programs and events still go ahead?

Yes. All scheduled library programs, events and activities will continue as planned. Check our website for all details.

Will public computers, printing and Wi-Fi still be available?

Yes. All regular library services, including public computers, printing, Wi-Fi and borrowing services, will remain available during the closure.

Will there be any impacts inside the library?

There may be short-term impacts to public bathroom access and meeting room access on the morning of Wednesday 14 October while some works are undertaken. We apologise for any inconvenience. Alternative public bathrooms are available at the Carparking facility next to the library and at the Night Markets across the road.

Can I access online library services during the closure?

Yes. Online library services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Will the building be accessible during the works?

Yes. The library building will remain open and accessible throughout the closure period, although visitors may need to follow temporary signage and use alternative parking arrangements.

How will I know when the carpark has reopened?

Updates will be provided on the library website and social media channels once the works are complete and the carpark has reopened.
