Launch Pad

Launch Pad is a creative stage for creative people.

The Studio at the Cairns Performing Arts Centre is set to be an incubator for fresh, new creative work in Cairns. Launch Pad provides a space where emerging artists can present on a professional stage with full technical support in a world-class venue. Whether you’re a musician, comedian, dancer, performer, stand-up, poet, aspiring MC or anything to do with the arts, we’d love to hear from you!

These events are FREE so bring all your friends and family, support other artists and grow your creative networks on a Sunday afternoon.

Show 1: Sunday 11 February 2024
Show 2: Sunday 28 April 2024
Show 3: Sunday 14 July 2024
Show 4: Sunday 6 October 2024
Show 5: Sunday 10 November 2024

Times:

Venue opens: 3pm
Show time: 4pm - 6pm

Selection process:

Creative Life programmers will select and allocate three pre-programmed performance slots – these artists will be contacted and confirmed prior to the event. All the other slots will be filled on a walk-in, first-in basis. Performance times will range between 5-15 minutes on stage

Selection of pre-programmed artists will be based on the following criteria:

  • Innovative or new original work
  • Diverse creative genre
  • Young and emerging artists
  • First Nations artists
  • Artists with disabilities

More information:

  • Please arrive and register your performance prior to 3.40pm.
  • Free parking is available at CPAC – boom gates will be open on your arrival.
  • The event takes place at CPAC Studio (entrance on the left-hand side of the foyer).
  • Backline will be provided to suit up to a five-piece band, however, please bring your own instruments and leads.
  • As this is an open mic style event to give artists an opportunity to test our new material in a safe, world-class technical environment, there will be no sound checks or performance fees.
  • We recommend bringing a friend along to film or photograph your performance.
  • Please provide any backing music on a USB drive in order of performance to the registration desk on arrival before the show starts.
