Cairns Festival 2024 – Volunteer Call Out

Psst....hey you! Ready to shake things up?

We are looking for enthusiastic and community-minded volunteers who are interested in contributing to the art and cultural landscape, meeting new people and working behind the Cairns Festival events scenes with a dedicated and talented team of hardworking professionals.

Delivery of a 10-day festival is no mean feat, and can, at times, make the festival team as mad as march hares! That’s why we love our amazing volunteers, they are a vital part of making Cairns Festival a success, we simply could not pull it off without them. Because it takes a village, we are hot on the recruitment drive before Cairns Festival blasts off in late August 2024.

So, what do say, are you keen to come aboard and frolic in the festival fun?

Once you have submitted your interest to volunteer, the festival team will respond to your application with more information about the roles available for 2024.

Volunteer opportunities

Previous experience is not essential. The festival team will provide support to ensure volunteers feel confident in their roles. We got you!

  • Activity and Events Assistants
  • Production Assistants
  • Information Booth Assistants
  • Show Ushers
  • Site and Equipment Assistants
  • Survey Assistants
  • Crowd Control & Safety Assistants

Skills

  • Able to interact with the members of the public and festival personnel
  • Interested in the arts industry and community events
  • Ability to follow instructions and be a positive and active part of the festival team
  • A commitment to making Cairns Festival a fantastic and memorable experience for the general public, artists and contractors, staff and, of course, fellow volunteers.

Dates and Times

The 2024 Cairns Festival program runs for 10 days (phew!), starting Friday, 23 August and closing on Sunday, 1 September.

A minimum commitment of a 4-hour shift is required. Shifts are flexible. The roster detailing positions, dates, times and locations will be sent to interested applicants so they can select what best suits them.
