The Mayor's Charity Golf Day is an annual charity fundraising event and one of the most popular events on the Cairns business calendar. Council has run the event for more than a decade and relies on sponsorship, with all profits donated to the nominated charities.
The 2019 event was held on Friday 7 June 2019 at the Half Moon Bay Golf Club, just outside the city centre. The nominated charities were Give Me 5 for Kids and Ronald McDonald House Charities @ Palm Cove. Thank you to all of our sponsors for 2019 who helped raise over $35,000 for these charities.
In 2019 the one-day Ambrose event drew a full course of 144 players for a day of 18 hole golf. This event attracts senior executives from local organisations and provides a valuable networking forum, as well as a chance to speak personally with your local Councillors and Mayor Bob Manning.
Every player received a gift bag, there were great prizes to be won (including a competition for the best dressed team), and every hole around the course had activities and/or food and beverages.

This year's Mayor's Charity Golf Day will support services for people living with cancer in Far North Queensland and local families who need a helping hand over Christmas.
All funds raised through the Mayor's Charity Golf Day will be spent within the Cairns region to support the local community.
COUCH exists to improve the health and wellbeing of people living with cancer in FNQ and are dedicated to providing integrated cancer care to enhance the quality of life for their clients, families and friends. COUCH provides a co-ordinated care and support service, navigating the local health and social landscape and being a collaborative partner in community cancer care initiatives.
MAYOR'S CHRISTMAS CHEER APPEAL raises funds each year to purchase 700 food hampers for local families and older members of our community who need a helping hand over the festive period.
