As part of Council’s ongoing maintenance program, works are being undertaken to the water intake at Crystal Cascades in order to continue to provide safe and reliable drinking water to the community. The water intake is located in a non-public access area of Crystal Cascades.

Works will commence from February 2020 and are expected to be completed by December 2020, subject to favourable weather conditions and any unforeseen delays.

The works will involve mechanical, civil and electrical upgrades to the intake infrastructure and communications improvements to enhance security and reliability of the intake.

Visitors to Crystal Cascades may experience some noise associated with the work during working hours but it will be kept to a minimum wherever possible. There may be an increase in heavy vehicles travelling along the Crystal Cascades pathway during this time however traffic management will be in place where activities affect pedestrian and/or vehicle movements. The carpark will be partially sectioned off for use by Council’s contractor.

Working hours will typically be between 7am and 5:30pm Monday to Friday. Should any after-hours work be required, it will be undertaken on an “as needed” basis.

Council appreciates your patience and cooperation during this time.

Should you require further information in regards to the above work please contact Cairns Regional Council’s Customer Service Centre on 1300 69 22 47.
