McCoombe Street pedestrian bridge

  • Type of work: Footpath & Cycleway Works
  • Suburb: Mooroobool
  • Work period (anticipated): 15/05/2019 to 30/06/2019
  • Description: A new pedestrian bridge is being installed.
  • Likely impacts: Noise; Dust; Traffic Control
  • Location: McCoombe Street
  • Status: Open

An at-road-level pedestrian bridge will be constructed over the McCoombe Street drain, between Cochrane Street and Ingham Court.

The pedestrian bridge will be 2 metres wide and span 15 metres over the drain. As shown on the attachment ( PDF, 0.39 MB ), it will be similar in design to the Koch Street bridge at Raintrees Shopping Centre.

The bridge will be situated on the western side of the road, with kerb ramps connecting to the existing footpaths. The bridge deck surface height will be approximately 700mm above the existing surface level.

Preparation works and construction of the abutments, connecting footpath works and protection works will take approximately 2 weeks to complete, weather permitting. The bridge will then be delivered to site ready to install onto the abutments. During this time there will be some minimal impacts to traffic movements and car parking at the ends of the street and we thank you for your patience.

The new bridge is expected to be installed by the end of June 2019.
