Project update

Closures of the eastbound lane of Grove St, between Sheridan St and Grafton St, are required at times.

This is scheduled for Wednesday 29 April and Thursday 30 April, from 9am to 5pm however, further closures may be required.

Please observe and obey traffic controllers and signs advising the changes to normal traffic conditions, and follow detours as sign posted.

This closure is required to allow for the connection of water mains. Council appreciates your patience and cooperation during this time.

The following improvement works will be underway on Grove Street (from Sheridan St to Grafton St) from WEDNESDAY 27 MAY 2020:

Type of work:  (1) Road pavement rehabilitation / asphalt overlay of parking bays and traffic lanes; (2) Reconfiguration of roadway to introduce centre car parking
Duration of works:  Approx. 4 weeks to complete
Working hours:  Mondays to Fridays 7.00am to 5.30pm, Saturdays 7.00am to 1.00pm

Council proposes to reconfigure the street to introduce an additional 17 car parking bays. This involves introducing new centre median parking bays and tree islands, and either modifying, removing and/or replacing existing centre median and road shoulder islands.

As shown on the Concept Plan ( PDF, 0.59 MB ), unfortunately these changes result in several street tree removals to be able to introduce cycle lanes. New advanced street tree plantings would be undertaken to replace these trees.

During this time, traffic delays may be experienced and temporary closures of the eastbound lane will be required. There may also be temporary disruptions to property access and car parking bays temporarily closed. Please observe and obey traffic controllers and signs advising the changes to normal traffic conditions.

If you would like further information or have concerns about any of these changes, please contact Council on (07) 4044 3303 or email
