These improvements are part of a broader Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) Compliance Program of Works across the Cairns region to improve accessibility for patrons using the bus service.

Works on the eastbound stop include construction of a new boarding point, signage and line marking changes. The existing slab and seat will remain.

Works on the westbound stop include construction of a new boarding point east of the original bus stop, and installation of a shelter and seat. The existing boarding point will be demolished. A concrete island on the road shoulder will also be removed and signage and line marking changes will be made.

There are two trees marked for removal to undertake these changes and trimming of vegetation may also be required but this will be limited as much as possible.

Bus stop works are programmed to start on THURSDAY 21 MAY 2020, weather permitting, between the hours of 7am and 6pm, with preparation works due to start on MONDAY 18 MAY 2020.

During works there may be disruptions such as noise and dust; however, these will be kept to a minimum. It is anticipated that works will take approximately 4 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates your patience during these necessary improvement works. Should you require further information please email feedback@cairns.qld.gov.au.
