The construction of a new laboratory is programmed on Macnamara Street to improve laboratory testing services to the Far Northern community.

These works are scheduled to be completed by mid-May 2019, subject to favourable weather conditions.

Construction noise and some dust associated with the work may be experienced during working hours but will be kept to a minimal where possible. There may be some minor traffic delays while the works are being completed however traffic management will be in place where construction activities affect vehicle and pedestrian movements.

Residents and businesses in the affected area will be notified directly regarding disruptions to any services. Council appreciates your patience and cooperation during this time.

Work hours for this project will typically be between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Friday. Any works to be undertaken outside these hours will be on an “as required” basis.

The FNQ Water Laboratory is a joint initiative of Cairns Regional Council and the Queensland Government.
