The 'Smarter with our Water: Cairns Water Education Program' is designed and delivered by Council's Water Education Officers using the purpose built Water Education and Training (WET) Van.

The fun and interactive lessons encourage a deeper understanding of Cairns' water story, the urban water cycle and why our water is too precious to waste.

Download and complete a WET Van Booking Application form to request a visit to your school and for all full terms and conditions.

Cairns Regional Council is committed to ensuring that water run-off from river catchments in the region does not negatively impact the Great Barrier Reef lagoon.

With funding support from the Australian Government’s Smart Cities and Suburbs program we are leading the Smart Catchments: Saltwater Creek pilot study in partnership with James Cook University, the Wet Tropics Healthy Waterways Partnership and Itron Australasia.
