“Creativity is what you do with your imagination,” says local artist, Molly Duncan.
“Creating abstract art in oil and cold wax medium allows me to be spontaneous, just letting the painting take me where it wants to go. It's a quiet conversation and happy accidents happen along the way, but I just trust the process and embrace the imperfections and to me that's what art is all about.”
The direction of Molly’s work is evoked from memories of travel experiences in Europe, North America, and Asia. Molly paints intuitively, starting with a humble mark which expands into a line, which goes on a journey to all parts of her canvas. It may end up as a landscape of the Daintree, a sunset in Kota Kinabalu Borneo, or an evening at the Royal Edinburgh Tattoo.
As a playful way to appreciate abstract art, Molly is offering some of the works in this exhibition to be cut into small details and sold as slices.
