Natalia Mann - The Sonic Earth
Fri 08 Nov - Thu 14 Nov
Listen. If all the world is vibration, then what does it sound like? If you can turn up silence, how do you play it?
Local musician and experimental artist Natalia Mann has spent four months listening to the trees of the Cairns Botanical Gardens and discovered an abundant world of music. Natalia’s approach is scientific, using biodata sensors to produce the trees’ sounds, intuitive, and highly social as she draws other artists and musicians into the project.
Over three evenings, Natalia and her collaborators will present a musical triptych of unique performances co-written by trees and humans, amongst an art installation. See our website for viewing times of the art installation.
Artists include: Tegan Koster, Merindi Schrieber, Bonemap, Resonance Art Ensemble, Get A Move On.
The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Cairns Regional Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
