History behind the name

Named after the Kookaburra, a bird native to Australia and New Guinea, commonly known as the laughing Kookaburra. Aboriginals tell the tales of the laughing of this bird being a sign to the sky people to light the day and its unmistakable sound is considered to be a sign of the Australian bush.
