History behind the name

When the cane farm at this site was developed into housing blocks in the 50’s, Bob Norman Senior (the developer) and Ron McKauge undertook a marketing exercise by light aircraft through New Guinea and adjacent islands. The purpose was to sell the blocks to ex-pats who were moving to Australia, thus the streets being named after well known New Guinea locations.
