Kids will love the play equipment found at this park in Gordonvale, which includes a bright red obstacle course and climbing ropes. Designed as a multi-purpose sports facility, the park also boasts ovals and courts suited to football, tennis and rugby. Trees throughout the park are ideal for shade, while the outdoor space itself includes on-site car parking and public toilet facilities.
History behind the name
The area was first settled in 1877 by the Alley and Blackwell families who cut a road through to Trinity Inlet so they could haul out cedar logs. By 1880 the road was well used by miners and packers and they established the Riverstone Hotel to service the passing trade.
