Historical name for reserve

19 Apr 2017

A drainage reserve at Kamerunga is proposed to be named Barronville Park after the original name of the settlement in that location.

Council received a request from local residents to adopt the name that was used for the area in the late 1880s and early 1900s, prior to being renamed Kamerunga.

In 1887, Barronville became the centre of operations for the building of the Kuranda Railway.

Council’s Sport and Community Services Committee has supported the recommendation to name the reserve Barronville Park.
