Snake Gully are one of Cairns' most acclaimed bands, home and away. Snake Gully's name has been synonymous with Australian folk music in Far North Queensland since the late 80's, and in recent years it has become increasingly familiar to audiences overseas as well.
Since the turn of the millennium, The Snakes have flown the Aussie flag abroad, playing to huge crowds at major festivals in China, Denmark, Finland and Estonia. Snake Gully has entertained countless international visitors and many VIPs including former Australian Prime Minister, John Howard.
Snake Gully plays a mixture of traditional Australian 'bush' music, Celtic tunes and original numbers that bring to life the local history, coloured with splashes from other local acoustic music styles. Their songs are laced with humour and dazzling instrumental breaks executed by some of Queensland's finest players on mandolin, guitar, fiddle, harmonica and double bass.
