Fun Ship Playground

COVID-19 update

All playgrounds along the Cairns Esplanade have reopened. Physical distancing rules apply and gatherings are limited to groups of 40 people.

Toilet outage

The public toilets at the Fun Ship Playground are temporarily out of order due to an electrical fault. We are working withe Ergon Energy to have them up and running as soon as possible.

The nearest alternative public toilets are on the parklands near McKenzie Street. We apologise for the inconvenience.

The Endeavour Fun Ship structure was opened in 2006. This replaced an iconic, old timber fun ship that had brought hours of pleasure to many local and visiting families. The new Fun Ship is a unique playground that fits well with the marine theme of the Esplanade and has many links to the original playground.

Close to the Fun Ship Playground is the BBQ Sandpiper and picnic tables. Due to its popularity, BBQ Sandpiper is not available for private hire but is free for public use. The playground is also located next to the Fun Ship Parkland which can accommodate visiting attractions and various community events.

Toilets are located a short distance to the north west of the Fun Ship Playground.
