A study into recreational needs for White Rock has identified new infrastructure to be established via a staged program.
The results of the White Rock Recreation Study were today endorsed by Council’s Sport and Community Service Committee.
Among the short-term projects listed in the study is the upgrading of Khalu Park to meet the criteria for a District Park, This includes providing picnic facilities, active recreation and exercise elements, a half-size multi-use sports field, toilets and lighting.
In addition, a master plan is proposed for the Tiffany Street Sport and Community Precinct, and identification of a location for a new local park in Griffin Street is recommended.
Other proposed projects include a walking/running loop, additional dog off-leash areas, and detailed planning for a boardwalk and fishing platform off Tarantino Crescent.
