Babies born during the past 12 months will be formally welcomed into the Cairns community at the 2018 Baby Welcome Ceremony.
New parents throughout the Cairns region are invited to register their bundles of joy for the annual ceremony, which will be held in Cairns Regional Council’s Civic Reception Rooms on Saturday 27 October.
The event will be hosted by Mayoress Claire Manning, who will present each baby and their family a special commemorative certificate.
“This ceremony has become a milestone event for parents of new babies,” Mayor Bob Manning said. “It’s a special occasion for family and friends to share.”
Babies born from September 2017 until October 2018 can be registered for the ceremony.
The event is from 10am to 2pm and split into several sessions. Parents will be advised of their ceremony time once registered.
“Last year, there were more than 170 babies welcomed in the ceremony, creating many wonderful memories for growing families,” Cr Manning said.
A native tree will be planted in celebration of each baby.
