RIGA and Cairns love of song and dance will be on display at the Tanks Arts Centre throughout November in a photographic exhibition that celebrates their Sister City relationship.
Featuring 61 images taken by members of the Cairns Photographic Society and two Riga photographic clubs, the exhibition was first staged in the Latvian capital in August for the country’s National Song and Dance Festival.
Mayor Bob Manning said the collaboration continues the long-running cultural exchange between the two cities.
“Cairns and Riga have a strong connection spanning three decades,” Cr Manning said. “It’s a wonderful representation of the importance of song and dance to both peoples.”
The exhibition, to be officially opened by the Mayor at 6pm tonight, will run until Sunday 9 December in Tank 4. Entry is free
