Parking will be free across the Cairns CBD this Sunday as the city hosts its biggest annual sporting event.
The 2018 Cairns Airport IRONMAN Asia-Pacific Championship Cairns and the 2018 IRONMAN 70.3 will be run and won on Sunday 10 June.
To make it easier for residents to cheer on the athletes, Cairns Regional Council is offering free, all-day on-street parking.
“This is a massive event for our city and we want as many people as possible to have the opportunity to enjoy it,” Mayor Bob Manning said.
“Providing free, all-day parking is a small way in which we can encourage residents to make the trip into the city this Sunday.”
Residents are reminded that the Southern Esplanade (lagoon) carpark is closed until Wednesday 13 June and changed traffic conditions will apply on the day of the event.
