Australia Day Award nominations extended

Nominations for the 2018 Cairns Regional Council Australia Day Awards have been extended until Friday 15 December.

Mayor Bob Manning said there were many great people in the community who deserved to be recognised.

“There are people in our community who contribute in so many different ways,” Cr Manning said.

“It’s important that we, as a community, make the effort to celebrate the individuals who inspire us, who help to build us up, and who make us a stronger and more vibrant city.

“If you know someone who deserves their moment in the spotlight, we encourage you to take the time to nominate them, so we can celebrate their achievements together.”

Nominations are open in seven categories:

  • Citizen of the Year
  • Young Citizen of the Year
  • Sportsperson of the Year
  • Junior Sportsperson of the Year
  • Cultural Award
  • Junior Cultural Award
  • Volunteer of the Year

Nominations close at 5pm on Friday 15 December.
