A new roof will be built over the centre court at the Cairns International Tennis Centre to provide protection from both rainfall and the harsh Far North Queensland sun.
It is anticipated that the $2.8 million structure will lead to increased membership and will allow elite level play on centre court for the annual Cairns International Pro Tour tournament, as well as potential future international events, including Davis Cup or Fed Cup matches.
Council and the Federal Government, through the Regional Jobs and Investment Package, will jointly fund the upgrade, which should be completed by June 2020.
The Cairns International Tennis Centre will remain operational during the construction period. Thank you for your patience.
