Approximately 80% of this project is now complete. Works remaining include:
- completion of the footpath within the southern area and a new traffic speed hump;
- a new playground;
- electrical, irrigation, street lighting and CCTV works;
- furniture installation including new shelters and BBQs; and
- bollard installation.
A $3 million makeover of the Holloways Beach foreshore will include new barbecues, shelters and playground equipment.
Parking will be improved on Casuarina Street and the intersection with Luke Street will be re-opened to create a new one-way northbound access.
Other improvements will include new lighting, CCTV cameras, irrigation systems, rubbish bins, seating, bubblers, landscaping and a pedestrian crossing for safe access across Oleander Street.
The project is partially funded through the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program and is expected to be completed by June 2019.
Other Council works in the immediate area will be programmed to occur concurrently, including pavement rehabilitation works, kerb and channel replacement and the Machans Beach – Holloways Beach section of the Northern Beaches Leisure Trail.
