Machans Beach seawall reconstruction

The $16.8 million Machans Beach seawall reconstruction project was officially opened on 15 August 2015.

Project background

The Machans Beach seawall was unstable and susceptible to collapse. Reconstruction works began in April 2014, and after 15 months of construction, the foreshore is safer and better protected from weather events and erosion.

Rocks were placed to form a stable, flatter rock-face extending about 15 metres out to sea from the original wall.

Project budget: $16.8 million
