Munro Martin Parklands (MMP) was officially opened on 18 August 2016 with the Cairns Performing Arts Centre (CPAC) opened on 15 December 2018.

A revitalised Florence Street, between Sheridan and Grafton streets, can be closed to provide a continual entertainment precinct taking in both major projects.

CPAC was a joint initiative of the the Federal Government providing $10 million to the project under the National Stronger Regions Fund and Queensland Government through Arts Queensland which provided $15 million.

The balance of $82 million project was funded by Cairns Regional Council.
