Cairns Regional Council is considering the construction of an asphalted pump track within the open space inside the Moody Creek Detention Basin Bike Pump Track.

A pump track is a type of off-road trail incorporating a circuit of banked turns and features designed to be ridden by BMX and Mountain Bikers who create momentum by using up and down body movements or ‘pumping’.  They are relatively simple and cater to a wide variety of skill level therefore are popular in local parks and public spaces.

Initial planning has indicated such a track would work well in the proposed space and it is intended that the track will provide an opportunity for local residents and children to practice their skills in a safe “off street” environment, close to home.

Should you have any further enquiries or to provide feedback regarding this proposal, please contact Council’s Club Development Officer, Matt Smith, on 4044 3238 or email sportrecreation@cairns.qld.gov.au before Friday Tuesday 20 November 2018.
