Council provides a range of grants to further sustainability in the Cairns region. In all cases, it is strongly recommended to discuss project ideas before making an application at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Community Sustainability Grant
Not for profit groups can apply for up to $5,000 for projects that deliver renewable energy, waste reduction, low carbon travel, sustainable food production, biodiversity improvements or community education.

Nature-based Learning Grant
Council’s Nature-based Learning Grant provides up to $2,000 for school excursions that connect children with nature in a way that results in a greater awareness and appreciation of sustainable living and the natural world.
In 2017/18, 8 schools (756 students) received grant funding for a range of excursions including trips to the reef and rainforest.

The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) ECOarts grant provides up to $5,000 towards arts and cultural practice projects that highlight a sustainability challenge or celebrate local biodiversity. To find out more, head to Council's RADF grants webpage.
