Emergency alert message warnings
Australia's national telephone based warning system - Emergency Alert - sends messages to mobile phones and landlines within an affected geographical area - to let people know about a disaster or local emergency.
You do not need to be on a mobile phone use plan to receive the messages, nor do you have to register to receive the messages. The mobile warning message will come from a number which is a series of the digit 4. The word "emergency" will be obvious and information and/or instructions will be provided.
