Food Safety Programs

Some premises require a Food Safety Program that identifies potential hazards. Affected premises include:

  • Childcare centres
  • On site/off site caterers
  • Private hospitals
  • Nursing homes

There are three steps you need to take to implement an accredited Food Safety Program.

Step one

Write your program or engage an approved auditor to do so. Information on how to write a Food Safety Program including templates, is available on the Food Safety page of the Queensland Health website.

Step two

If you prepare your own program it needs to be audited by an approved auditor. A list of approved auditors is provided by Queensland Health.

Step three

Attach your Food Safety Program with written advice from an approved auditor and submit your application (using the Application for a Food Business Licence form) for Food Safety Program accreditation ( PDF, 1.21 MB ).
