Touting is not allowed on Council land. Touting is defined as: publicising a business, commercial, trade or activity to another person, either verbally or with a publication.
Council land includes:
- Footpaths (including the footpath in front of shop entrances)
- Roadways and car parking areas
- Public seating areas
- Transport waiting and drop-off points
- Facilities such as the Esplanade, Barlow Park, Cairns Botanic Gardens and Centenary Lakes
Fines of $266 can be issued to the person who touts or the business publicised by the touting.
