Multiple award-winning Brisbane group, Black Honey Company, will team up with Cairns creatives as part of a special creative development, with the outcome to be performed live to the public.
Taking place in CPAC’s Studio space, The Honeys, along with select local performers, will serve up a look into what could be a mix of old school jams, new cabaret or poetry slams.
Black Honey Company created the smash-hit, genre-defying, firecracker of a show, Hot Brown Honey, which took the world by storm and won an accolade of awards along the way, including the Helpmann Award in 2017, two Green Room Awards, and the UK’s Total Theatre Award for Innovation, Experimentation and Playing with Form.
Part theatrical explosion, part social activism, Hot Brown Honey is unapologetically fierce, having performed across five countries, garnering widespread popular and critical acclaim.
Black Honey Company’s Lisa Fa'alafi (Polytoxic Dance Theatre Company) and Busty Beatz (MD/Composer 'The Longest Minute') chose Cairns to create new work after being captivated by far north Queensland and having previously engaged with the region’s creatives.
The performance will be the creative outcome of the five-day residency in which the public are invited to preview this exciting new project.
