One hundred years ago in a young forest plantation near Belgium, Australian soldiers fought bravely in what is known as the Battle of Polygon Wood.
Join the community for an official commemorative ceremony to mark this special anniversary and pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of First World War soldiers from the Cairns region.
Free event, no registration required. Parking available along Little Street.
Commemorations will continue with children's activities at Cairns City Library from 25 September to 3 October 2017. Children can help create the Polygon Wood patchwork tree and learn more about the battle, Anzac values and local soldiers.
This project is proudly supported by the Queensland Government and Cairns Regional Council.Add to my calendar
