The rain didn't dampen the Christmas spirit this year with Carols by Candlelight going ahead on Sunday 11 December despite some inclement weather.
If you missed the event, or want to experience the magic all over again, check out the video below.
Bring your rug, chair and your best singing voice to one the biggest annual community events in Cairns. Carols by Candlelight attracts thousands of residents and visitors for a feast of Christmas cheer.
The evening doubles as the major fundraiser for the Mayor's Christmas Cheer Appeal. Proceeds from the sale of merchandise goes towards the distribution of food hampers to around 700 local families who might otherwise go without on Christmas Day.
The 2016 Carols by Candlelight will be held at Fogarty Park on Sunday 11 December, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
Donate to spread cheer
It's not too late to contribute to the annual Mayor's Christmas Cheer Appeal, which raises funds to buy hampers for local families who need a helping hand to help make their Christmas festive.
You can also make a donation:
- by dropping your loose change into the Mayor's Christmas Appeal collection boxes at many local businesses, including your local library
- over the counter with cash, credit card, cheque or money order at Council's customer service offices
- by posting a cheque or money order to Council at PO Box 359 Cairns QLD 4870. All cheques should be made to the Mayor's Christmas Cheer Appeal
Please note that NO FOOD OR TOYS can be accepted for the Mayor's Christmas Appeal.
Fireworks and temporary road closure
There will be a fireworks display at the conclusion of Carols by Candlelight, on the Eastern Lagoon Lawn at 8:30pm. This will require a short closure (between 8.25pm and 8.40pm) of the access road to the Salthouse and Marina, from the Pier Point Road roundabout.
