DonateLife Week 2012, Australia’s national awareness week to promote organ and tissue donation, is urging all Australians to ask and know your loved ones' donation wishes.
Last year, a total of 337 Australians who tragically lost their lives, saved or improved the lives of 1001 people in need of an organ transplant.
In Australia, the family will always be asked to confirm the donation wishes of the deceased. Families that have discussed and know each other’s donation wishes are more likely to uphold those wishes. Only 57% of Australians know the donation wised of their loved ones.
DonateLife Week, Sunday 19 – Sunday 26 February 2012, is the ideal time to talk about organ and tissue donation with your loved ones, and to discuss their donation decision.
