Boost your business with renewable energy and energy efficiency

With technology costs plummeting and Federal Government incentives on offer, now's a great time for your business to benefit from renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Council and Frontier Carbon are presenting a free 2-hour workshop on Monday 16 March (9-11am) discussing energy efficiency, carbon reduction and renewable energy solutions for businesses. It will also cover financing opportunities offered by the Clean Energy Finance Corporation and other banks.

The session will be presented by Jennifer Lauber Patterson, Managing Director of Frontier Carbon. Jennifer has more than 25 years experience in the energy and banking sector, specialising in the provision of financial, energy and carbon risk advisory services. As Managing Director of Frontier Carbon, Jen's philosophy is to develop proven, innovative programs, advise others of how to do it and to provide support for businesses and communities to benefit.

The Federal Government Renewable Energy Target (RET) and the Emission Reduction Fund (ERF) provide business with opportunities to save money by investing in energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. The ERF alone is providing $2.55 billion for funding of eligible projects and there are a wide range of opportunities.

  • Emission Reduction Fund (ERF) - The ERF is designed to make energy efficiency improvements more affordable by being able to claim carbon credits that can be sold to the Federal Government. Under the scheme, business can invest in a number of energy efficiency reduction opportunities.
  • Renewable Energy Target (RET) - The RET scheme is a Federal Scheme that is designed to encourage investment in renewable energy technology. The investment in Renewable Energy Projects entitles you to receive environmental credits called Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs)

Bookings essential – email economicdevelopment@cairns.qld.gov.au or phone 4044 3366 to book.
