Anderson Street Conservation Park is classified as bushland/conservation land.

Bushland/Conservation areas are generally un-embellished and are protected under the Nature Conservation Act 1992.  This means they are not accessible for normal recreation purposes, but more for protection of biodiversity and natural habitat.

History behind the name

The history on this park name is not clear.  What is sure is that it is named after the road it adjoins.  The road is either named after Jack (James) Anderson who was one of the first settlers in Cairns and was a storekeeper; or according to Cummins and Campbell's (an archive branch of James Cook University) it was named for Alderman John Anderson.
