Public swimming pools

Public swimming pools are available for use by the general public for a small fee. Pools are located at the following locations:

You can also cool off  at Sugarworld Waterpark in Edmonton, with shaded resort-style pools, tipping buckets, water cannons and waterslides (no lap swimming pool).

Experience the new Tobruk: free entry all opening weekend, 14 & 15 May 2016

Official opening celebrations will be held on Saturday 14 May, from 9am to midday.

Come along and watch FNQ Swimming's freestyle skins races where local swimmers will battle it out against Olympian swimmers, Chris and Melanie Wright. You'll also be able to meet Brooke Hanson, Olympic gold medallist, world champion and former world record-holder who will be there to help us celebrate.

There'll be give-aways and other entertainment throughout the morning, including flowrider demonstrations, inflatable water play and free fitness classes.

But don't worry if you can't make it to the official celebrations as there will be FREE ENTRY ALL WEEKEND - Saturday 14 May 6am to 6pm and Sunday 15 May 8am to 6pm.

Babinda

Address: Church Street, Babinda.

Babinda swimming pool is accessible for swimmers and spectators with a disability. It is manned by trained lifeguards with first-aid qualifications. For information on programs, Learn to Swim, opening times and entry fees, contact the pool operators on 4067 1211.

Gordonvale

Gordonvale Aquatic Centre offers learn to swim classes year-round in the heated pool as well as aqua classes. Contact the pool operators on 4056 1353 for details on programs, opening times, fees and charges.

Tobruk Memorial

Address: 370 Sheridan Street, North Cairns

This pool complex is closed for redevelopment. To be officially opened on Saturday 14 May 2016, the upgraded Tobruk Memorial Pool facility will be a health, leisure and sporting hub designed to international standards.

Marlin Coast Bicentennial Pool

The Marlin Coast Bicentennial Pool is the home of the Marlin Coast Swimming Club and Frogs Legs Swim School, which runs year-round lessons in the heated indoor pool. It offers babies and toddler classes, learn to swim, squads up to senior level and adult squads. Aqua classes are also held throughout the year.
