Imagine Tomorrow: Your Community Plan 2011-2031
The Cairns Regional Council Community Plan, Imagine Tomorrow: Your Community Plan 2011-2031 has been adopted for the Cairns region.
This plan provides a broad set of guidelines for planning for growth over the next 20 years.
How was the plan developed?
Since June 2010 extensive public consultation and engagement has been conducted throughout the region. People's views, visions and concerns for the future of the region as it grows, are now reflected in the Community Plan which aims to protect our green environment and lifestyle aspects that make our region so liveable.
Why do we need a community plan?
The Community Plan project is a requirement of the Local Government Act 2009, where all Queensland Councils must develop and adopt a long-term community plan by December 1, 2011.
More than 2500 pieces of public feedback were received during a series of consultation processes, helping to shape the final document. These submissions were made through workshops, online survey, postcards, letters, and other correspondence.
Where are the documents that informed this process?
A full set of reports that detail information which helped inform/draft the Community Plan are available in the 'library' on the Cairns Regional Council’s 'Your Say' website: http://yoursay.cairns.qld.gov.au/document/index/11
You can also view a hard copy of the Community Plan at any of Council’s customer service centres and libraries after Wednesday 26 October.
