Half-yearly rates payment due 7 September 2017

Rates notices were issued on 14 August 2017 and ratepayers have until close of business on Thursday 7 September 2017 to pay their half-yearly rates notices.

Available payment options are listed below. Interest charges will apply to late payments.

Opt-in to BPAY View for Rates

Online banking customers can opt in for BPAY View - a secure, paper-free way to receive and manage bills that avoids the risk of postal delays. Using BPAY View means the ratepayer's bank will notify them as soon as a rate notice is there to be viewed.  Payments can then be made through a normal BPAY payment. BPAY View also offers payment reminders.

  • To register for BPAY View, you need to have first registered for internet banking with your financial institution. Using your unique BPAY Reference Number (this can be found on a previous rates notice), you can then add Cairns Regional Council to your BPAY View biller list.

Note: the BPAY View registration process varies from bank to bank. Contact your financial institution directly if you need help registering for BPAY View.

You can register to receive your Rates and Water Usage Notices by email. You will need your assessment number/s to register.

Pensioner Rate Subsidy - applications due 30 June 2017

Cairns Regional Council invites pensioner ratepayers who are NOT currently receiving a rate subsidy from the State Government to lodge an application for the rate subsidy. Pensioners deemed eligible for the State Government rate subsidy may also be entitled to a Council rate subsidy.

Payment options

Payment can be made through Council's Online Self Service, using your assessment number as a reference number with your Visa or MasterCard. Payment of rates can be made in full, for future rates, smaller payments can be made in advance at any time.

Contact your bank or financial institution to make payment from your savings or cheque account (credit card facilities are not available).Please quote Biller Code 49346. BPAY can also be used to make smaller advance payments.

You can also opt-in for BPAY View to get your rates notice sent straight to your online banking account. Your bank will then notify you when a rates notice is ready to be viewed.

Payment can be made in person at any Post Office.  You can make smaller advance payments for rates and water at any time at Australia Post.
Pay with BPoint Phone BPOINT Phone
Payments can be made through BPOINT Phone - call 1300 276 468 (or from outside Australia call +61 1300 351 599) any time to pay with MasterCard or Visa. Please quote Biller Code 49346 and the reference number shown on the front of your rates notice.  Calls within Australia are charged at local call costs with higher rates from mobile and public phones. International calls are charged at the applicable rate. 

 Payment by Mail
Remove the bottom section of your rates notice and mail with your cheque or money order to Cairns Regional Council, Rates Department, PO Box 359, Cairns QLD 4870. Cheques must be made payable to Cairns Regional Council and marked 'Not Negotiable.' Acceptance of a cheque is subject to collection of the proceeds. Post dated cheques will not be accepted.
 In Person
You can make payment at any of Council's Customer Service Centres using cash, cheque, EFTPOS, Visa, MasterCard or money order.
   Direct Debit
To make regular weekly, fortnightly or monthly payments from your cheque or savings account towards your next rates notice, complete a direct debit form.
