Cairns Regional Council invites stakeholders, businesses and community groups to attend a series of free briefings by NBN Co on the National Broadband Network this week.
The sessions will focus on the Fixed Wireless service delivery, which will occur in areas unable to be connected to the fibre optic network.
“These briefings are targeted largely at key stakeholders or individuals representing key sectors,” Mayor Bob Manning said.
“We stress that this is just the start of a comprehensive community engagement strategy and there will be opportunities for other members of the community to participate in information sessions in the future.
“We will be working closely with NBN Co through the delivery process to keep residents and businesses informed.”
It is expected that Fixed Wireless services will be available within the Cairns Regional Council area from mid to late 2013.
Interested attendees for this week’s free briefing sessions are asked to register by calling 4044 3366.
