New Year's Eve
Send off 2023 with style and welcome the New Year at one of three venues across the city.
Council's New Year's Eve firework displays will be held at the family friendly time of 8.30pm
at the Cairns Esplanade, Palm Cove jetty and Walker Road in Edmonton.
For the traditionalists, there will also be midnight fireworks at the Cairns Esplanade.
Council is also hosting a free movies at the Esplanade and Walker Road.

Road Closures:
To allow for New Year’s Eve festivities, the Esplanade will be closed to all traffic between Shields St and Aplin St from 4pm on Friday 29 December to 5am on Tuesday 2 January 2024.
The Esplanade road will also be closed to all traffic between Spence St to Aplin St from 6pm on Sunday 31 December to 1am on Monday 1 January 2024.
Commercial Access: 5:00am – 9:00am Saturday 30 December, Sunday 31 December and Monday 1 January. Access for deliveries and garbage collection will resume as normal from 5:00am Tuesday 2 January.
