Treeforce

In 2004 Treeforce, who are supported by Cairns City Council won the Plant Smart and Far North Queensland Regional component of the Qld Arbor Day Awards.

As part of the winning project based on Freshwater Creek, Treeforce:

• planted and maintained over 6000 indigenous trees and shrubs along the creek
• restored 2.2 hectares of creek frontage
• trained volunteers in plant identification and revegetation
• worked with Council and Ergon Energy to select suitable species for planting under power line
