Douglas Shire has completed the first of a series of Water Quality Improvement Plans being developed along the Great Barrier Reef. This Plan has identified the principal sources of sediment and nutrients; determined appropriate actions; and, has established seven-year targets to reduce these pollutant loads. The Plan has also determined by community consultation the Environmental Values on the watercourses within the Shire.
