| Parking in the central business area in Port Douglas is regulated. Signs marking the regulated areas are on all the roads entering the regulated area and Council's Parking Officer regularly undertakes enforcement patrols of the areas. Other enforcement is taken by the Port Douglas Police Service. Parking is for a maximum of two (2) hours unless signed otherwise.
If you receive a parking fine, payment must be received by Council within 28 days from the date of issue. Payment can be made by cash or cheque at Douglas Shire Council's Administration Centre, 64-66 Front Street, Mossman or a cheque or money order can be mailed to PO Box 357, Mossman QLD 4873. An additional fee of $12 will be incurred to obtain the name and address of the current registered owner to Queensland Transport if the infringement notice remains unpaid after 28 days. If the Infringement Notice continues to go unpaid it may be referred to the State Penalties Enforcement Registry (SPER). If this occurs additional fees will be incurred and to recover the outstanding amounts SPER may: - Suspend your driver's licence - Give a Fine Collection Notice to your bank - Give an Arrest and Imprisonment Warrant to the Police
